Jessica Chastain and Brendan Fraser have been announced as the leads in a new mystery thriller film called Assassination. Joining them in the cast are Bryan Cranston and the legendary actor Al Pacino. Production is scheduled to start in early 2025 in Boston, MA.
The movie offers a fresh perspective on the JFK assassination conspiracy, focusing on Dorothy Kilgallen, a prominent media figure at the time. The official synopsis describes the film as follows: “When Dorothy suspects that Lee Harvey Oswald was not acting alone, she uses her fame and influence to uncover the true killer of JFK. A blend of murder mystery and film noir, Dorothy’s quest will pit her against the CIA, Mafia bosses, and the FBI, all of whom are determined to silence her and suppress the truth.”
Assassination will be headlined by Chastain, who will portray the role of crime reporter Dorothy Kilgallen. The film is written and directed by Barry Levinson.
“Dorothy Kilgallen was a trailblazing female crime reporter in America. She was the sole female journalist to cover the JFK case and the only reporter to have a conversation with Jack Ruby. Through her connections to the Warren Commission, she began piecing together information that no one else had. Her untimely death under suspicious circumstances was never properly investigated,” Levinson explained.
