If Trump is re-elected, schools and teachers may be faced with difficult decisions regarding ICE presence in schools, federal funding contingent on specific curriculum, and inquiries into families’ legal status. Will we follow the examples of Bezos and the LA Times owner, or will we be more like the Norwegian teachers?
In response to these potential challenges, I plan to take action in the days and weeks following the election. My goal is to navigate these uncertain times with a focus on supporting students and families while upholding the values of education and inclusivity.
I will continue to advocate for the rights and well-being of all students, regardless of their background or legal status. I will work to create a safe and supportive environment within my school community, where all students feel valued and respected.
Additionally, I will collaborate with fellow educators and community members to address any changes or challenges that may arise as a result of the election outcome. Together, we can support each other and our students through these uncertain times.
