Sharon Van Etten Reveals Upcoming Album Featuring the Attachment Theory, Unveils Latest Track ‘Afterlife’

Sharon Van Etten has announced the upcoming release of a new album titled “Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory,” which was written and recorded with her backing band consisting of Jorge Balbi on drums and machines, Devra Hoff on bass and vocals, and Teeny Lieberson on synth, piano, and guitar. The album is set to be released on February 7, 2025 via Jagjaguwar, and the lead single ‘Afterlife’ is already available. Van Etten shared that the album was a result of a new approach to songwriting, with the band jamming together and creating two songs, ‘I Can’t Imagine’ and ‘Southern Life,’ in just an hour.

The album was recorded at The Church in London, the former studio of Eurythmics, with producer Marta Salogni. Van Etten described the creative process as a mix of excitement, fear, and feeling stuck at times. She emphasized the importance of being open to change and being at peace with oneself and others. Van Etten’s previous album was 2022’s ‘We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong.’
