Actor Robert Downey Jr has recently discussed the similarities between politically active billionaire Elon Musk and Tony Stark, the character he portrayed in the Iron Man and Avengers movies. Downey Jr expressed his thoughts on the On With Kara Swisher podcast, mentioning that while he has only met Musk a few times, he wishes that Musk would exhibit more control over his behavior. Despite this, Downey Jr acknowledged Musk’s value and contributions.
Downey Jr and Musk shared a brief appearance in Iron Man 2, where Musk mentions his idea for an electric jet. It has been revealed that Musk partially inspired the character of Tony Stark, as both individuals possess tech expertise, arrogance, and a short temper. The screenwriter Mark Fergus likened Stark to a combination of Steve Jobs and Donald Trump, highlighting his unique blend of brilliance, showmanship, and business acumen.
Donald Trump, the former US president, has also made cameo appearances in various movies, including Zoolander and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Trump denied claims of bullying his way into the latter film and insisted that the production team had been persistent in convincing him to make a cameo, which ultimately became a success.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that the character Biff Tannen from the Back to the Future trilogy was based on Trump, portraying a dim yet greedy antagonist who influences US politics. Musk has publicly endorsed Trump and expressed willingness to work with him in a new capacity if Trump were to be re-elected.
Actor Michael Keaton recently criticized Trump and Musk, stating that they do not truly respect their supporters and have nothing in common with them. Keaton emphasized that they view their followers as unintelligent and would not genuinely engage with them on a personal level.
Director Darren Aronofsky is currently developing a biopic of Musk based on Walter Isaacson’s biography. While casting details have not been announced, there has been speculation that Robert Downey Jr could be a suitable choice for the role.
