Raye’s second album delayed due to theft of songwriting books from car

The popular British singer-songwriter Raye has announced that her upcoming second album will face delays due to a unfortunate incident involving the theft of her car, which contained all her songwriting materials.

Taking to Instagram, Raye shared her disappointment, stating: “My car was stolen with all my songwriting books in the trunk, so unfortunately, there won’t be a second album anytime soon. Love you all, goodbye.”

This setback comes at a crucial time for the artist, also known as Rachel Keen, who had been gaining significant traction with her debut album, My 21st Century Blues.

Previously faced with challenges from her former record label, Raye decided to speak out about her struggles, expressing: “I’m tired of being overlooked and I’m tired of the pain it causes me.” Following her departure from the label, she took an independent route with My 21st Century Blues, which proved to be a major success. Her single, Escapism, soared to the top of the UK charts and reached the Top 30 in the US. Raye’s exceptional talent was recognized with six Brit Awards this year, setting a new record for the most wins in a single ceremony.

One of her tracks, Prada (remix), a collaboration with rap duo D-Block Europe, stayed in the Top 10 for 22 weeks last winter and has recently re-entered the Top 40 charts. She also co-wrote a song for Beyoncé on her 2024 album, Cowboy Carter. In addition, Raye released a new solo single in June titled Genesis, which she performed on American television.
