The Cure, Songs of a Lost World
The Cure’s first album in 16 years, “Songs of a Lost World,” has finally been released. The album, “4:13 Dream,” includes previously released singles such as ‘A Fragile Thing’ and ‘Alone’. Written and arranged by Robert Smith, the LP was produced and mixed by Smith and Paul Corkett. The album’s sleeve concept features ‘Bagatelle,’ a sculpture by Slovenian artist Janez Pirnat from 1975, with artwork and design by longtime collaborator Andy Vella. This marks the band’s first album with guitarist Reeves Gabrels since he joined as a full-time member in 2012, and also sees the return of keyboardist Roger O’Donnell, who rejoined the band in 2011 after a six-year hiatus.
Mount Eerie, Night Palace
Phil Elverum has released “Night Palace,” his first album under the Mount Eerie moniker in five years. Described as a spiritual sequel to the Microphones’ 2001 classic “The Glow pt. 2,” the album consists of 26 tracks, including previously unveiled songs like ‘I Saw Another Bird,’ ‘Broom of the Wind,’ ‘I Walk,’ and ‘Non-Metaphorical Decolonization’. Elverum explained that these songs represent a moment of peace found after turmoil and surrender, emphasizing a sense of release. Reflecting on the album, Elverum stated, “There’s a weird power you have in that one moment of destroying yourself, where it’s all on your own terms.”
Autre Ne Veut, Love, Guess Who??
Singer-songwriter and producer Arthur Ashin, known as Autre Ne Veut, has returned with his first album since 2015’s “Age of Transparency.” Titled “Love, Guess Who??,” the album features singles like ‘Okay,’ ‘About to Lose,’ ‘Heavy Tho,’ and ‘Itchy Blood.’ Collaborators on the record include Micah Jasper, Kris Yute, Spencer Zahn, BlankFor.ms, Jessica Zambri, Cristi Jo Zambri, Joe Stickney, Jacob Becker, Raia Was, and Joxx Wilson.
Haley Heynderickx, Seed of a Seed
Haley Heynderickx has released her first album in six years, “Seed of a Seed.” The Portland-based singer-songwriter previewed the album with tracks like ‘Gemini,’ ‘Foxglove,’ and the title song. Working with a core jazz band, Heynderickx explores themes of nature, technology, and consumerism, delving into the disconnect that can arise in a world dominated by these forces.
Freddie Gibbs, You Only Die 1nce
Rap veteran Freddie Gibbs surprised fans with the release of his new album, “You Only Die 1nce.” The album, a sequel to 2017’s “You Only Live 2wice,” features production from various artists and marks Gibbs’ return since his 2022 release, “$oul $old $eparately.”
Olivia O., No Bones, Sickly Sweet
Olivia O., one half of the duo Lowertown, has unveiled her sophomore album, “No Bones, Sickly Sweet.” The album, mostly self-produced and recorded, delves into personal and vulnerable themes, reflecting periods of solitude and introspection.
Lil Uzi Vert, Eternal Atake 2
Lil Uzi Vert has released his fourth studio album, “Eternal Atake 2.” The album serves as a follow-up to last year’s “Pink Tape” and was announced with a trailer referencing the artist’s mysterious disappearance in 2020.
Katrina Ford, H.E.A.R.T.
Katrina Ford, former Celebration bassist and vocalist, has released her debut album, “H.E.A.R.T.” The album, titled “Heart Ember Abuse Resin Trend,” reflects Ford’s eclectic musical influences and personal experiences, with a focus on the creative process and the impact of the pandemic.
Military Genius, Scarred for Life
Military Genius, the project of Bryce Cloghesy, has released a new album titled “Scarred for Life.” The album explores themes of mental health and trauma, drawing from Cloghesy’s personal experiences and reflections.
