New Albums Released Today: Primal Scream, The Slaps, The Body, Ab-Soul

Primal Scream have made a comeback with their latest album, Come Ahead, after an eight-year hiatus. Produced by David Holmes, Bobby Gillespie, and Andrew Innes, the album explores themes of conflict, both internal and external. According to Gillespie, the title ‘Come Ahead’ is a Glaswegian term that reflects the aggressive and confident attitude of the album.

Chicago DIY group The Slaps, composed of Rand Kelly, Ramsey Bell, and Josh Resing, have released their newest album, Mudglimmer. Recorded primarily at Hummingbird Recordings in Atlanta, the album features early singles such as ‘Compromised Dirt’, ‘Fool’, and ‘Flip’. The Slaps’ previous works include Pathless and This is My First Day At Drawing.

The Body, a heavy music duo, have unveiled their latest album, The Crying Out of Things. Produced with Seth Manchester at Machines with Magnets studio in Rhode Island, the album features collaborations with Dis Fig, Ben Eberle, and Dan Blacksburg. The Body’s approach to noise music is described as instinctual and maximalist.

Ab-Soul, from Top Dawg Entertainment, has dedicated his latest mixtape, Soul Burger, to his late friend DoeBurger. The mixtape includes tracks with guest appearances from Vince Staples, Ty Dolla $ign, JID, Lupe Fiasco, and others. Production on the album is handled by producers like 9th Wonder, ScHoolBoy Q, and Terrace Martin.
