Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film to feature Tom Holland in lead role

Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film alongside Matt Damon. The project, details of which are currently unknown, is scheduled for release in July 2026.

Deadline reported that Holland is in negotiations to co-star with Damon in the film. News about the project first surfaced in October, revealing that Nolan would be producing it in collaboration with Universal, the studio that supported his previous work, Oppenheimer, which won multiple Oscars. Nolan had previously had a long-standing partnership with Warner Bros, beginning with his 2002 film Insomnia, but their relationship came to an end when the studio temporarily shifted away from exclusive theatrical distribution during the Covid pandemic.

Damon has previously worked with Nolan on two occasions, playing an astronaut in Interstellar and portraying the director of the Manhattan Project in Oppenheimer. However, this new project will mark Nolan’s first time working with Holland, whose portrayal of Spider-Man has been incredibly successful, with the three films grossing $3.9 billion worldwide.

Recently, Holland wrapped up a stage production of Romeo and Juliet alongside Francesca Amewudah-Rivers in London’s West End. He is also gearing up to film the fourth Spider-Man movie next year, following reports that Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has been brought on board for the project.
