Nineteen people killed in central Mexico bus accident- Reuters

On Saturday, a tragic accident occurred in Mexico’s central state of Zacatecas, resulting in the death of nineteen people and injuring six others. The incident took place in the early morning hours when a bus carrying the victims collided with the back of a tractor-trailer transporting corn that had become detached.

Initially, Zacatecas Governor David Monreal reported a preliminary death toll of 24 individuals, but this figure was later revised by the state attorney general’s office in a statement. The attorney general’s office is currently conducting investigations to apprehend the driver of the tractor-trailer.

In the aftermath of the crash, efforts are underway to recover some of the bodies that fell into a ravine. Images shared on social media depict rescue teams, security forces, and military personnel securing the area while rescuers work diligently to retrieve the victims.

The bus was en route to Ciudad Juarez, a border city in the state of Chihuahua. However, it has not been confirmed whether migrants were among those who tragically lost their lives in the accident.
