An eyewitness in the area commented, “I’ve never seen so many emergency service vehicles and personnel in Piccadilly Gardens in all the years I’ve lived nearby.

“It’s unusual to see a few police cars or an ambulance, but the presence of so many police officers, paramedics, and even firefighters, along with an air ambulance at the Gardens, indicates a serious situation.”

Another witness stated, “I knew something was wrong when I noticed a cordon blocking one of the walkways and people being redirected – then I spotted the bright yellow air ambulance and the numerous police cars, ambulances, and fire engine at the corner of the gardens.

“I also observed that two trams were not in operation, which will cause disruptions for commuters.”
