Simon Daniels’ remains discovered in Dovestone Reservoir.

The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been searching the reservoir since Sunday after Simon Daniels, from Winsford, Cheshire, and a woman, fell off their inflatable paddleboard at around 2.30pm and entered the water.

A large search operation was launched by emergency services, including coastguard and mountain rescue teams, to find the 29-year-old, who went missing after the incident.

The woman had been recovered from the water and taken to the hospital.

At 6.15pm today, Wednesday, the police underwater search team found a body, which has now been confirmed to be Simon.

GMP has informed Simon’s family.

Detective Inspector Laura Crossley from Oldham CID said: “Throughout this tragic incident, we have been in close contact with Simon’s family and will continue to offer them our support as they come to terms with their loss.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and the scene has now been closed.

“A report is being prepared for the coroner.

“We appreciate the public’s support in enabling search teams to carry out their investigations. We understand the inconvenience this may have caused over the last few days, but it was important we conducted a full and thorough search for Simon.”
