Muslim leaders in battleground state endorse Trump

Former President Trump received endorsements from “highly respected” Muslim leaders and Imams during a campaign rally in the crucial state of Michigan.

Trump, addressing a crowd in Novi, Michigan on Saturday afternoon, praised the group of Muslim leaders as “highly respected” before inviting them onstage.

“I’m excited to receive the endorsement of these highly respected leaders,” Trump announced to the enthusiastic crowd.

Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump greeted local Muslim community leaders who endorsed him onstage during a campaign rally at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Mich., on Saturday.

The group of leaders highlighted Trump’s dedication to ending wars and promoting global peace as the main reason for their support, describing him as a leader who “promises peace, not war.”

“We, as Muslims, stand with President Trump because he pledges peace, not war!” Imam Belal Alzuhairi declared.

“We are backing Donald Trump because he vowed to halt war in the Middle East and Ukraine,” Alzuhairi stated. “The bloodshed needs to cease worldwide, and I believe this man can make that happen. I personally believe that God spared his life twice for a purpose.”

Republican presidential candidate former President Trump stood alongside local Muslim community leaders as they endorsed him onstage during a campaign rally at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Mich.

Mayor Bill Bazzi, the first Muslim and Arab American mayor of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, also attended the rally to express his support for Trump.

“We will end the wars, we will make the United States safe again, and we will make the world safe,” Bazzi affirmed.

“What a great endorsement,” Trump remarked after Bazzi’s speech. “These are fantastic people.”

The official endorsement from the Muslim leaders came after Amer Ghalib, the mayor of Hamtramck, announced his support for Trump in a Facebook post on Oct. 20.

“Though the outcome remains uncertain, he may or may not win the election and become the 47th president of the United States, but I believe he is the right choice for this critical time,” Ghalib wrote in Arabic on his Facebook page. “I will not regret my decision regardless of the result, and I am prepared to face the consequences. For this, and many other reasons, I declare my support and endorsement for the former, and hopefully, the next President of the United States, Donald Trump.”

Ghalib’s backing of Trump came after the two met in Flint earlier in the week for a private 20-minute discussion.

Ghalib informed The Detroit News that Trump “was well-informed about me before the meeting.”

“We discussed various topics including the debates, updates on polls, voting statistics in Michigan and Wayne County, concerns of Arab Americans, and specifically Yemeni Americans. We also talked about the situation in Yemen,” Ghalib shared.

Swing state status

The pivotal swing state of Michigan has witnessed record-breaking early voting numbers thus far.

According to data on the Michigan Department of State’s dashboard, over 1.2 million voters in Michigan have already cast their votes in this year’s election, utilizing either early voting or mail-in balloting, while surpassing the previous record for early ballot returns in the state.
