Colson Whitehead is a rare author who has won the Pulitzer Prize twice. The first time was for his novel “The Underground Railroad” in 2017, which was praised by Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey and adapted into a TV series by Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins. This achievement landed him on the cover of Time Magazine, making him the first author to grace the front page in nearly a decade since Jonathan Franzen. Whitehead was honored again in 2020 for his novel “The Nickel Boys,” which is set to be released as a film in the autumn. He is currently in Paris attending the Festival America and promoting the French release of his novel “Crook Manifesto.” The highly acclaimed American author discusses his crime trilogy set in Harlem with Eve Jackson.
