The Sserafim: A K-pop group aiming to revolutionize the industry from the inside

Their friendship is shown in songs like Chasing Lightning, where Yunjin is teased for her love of Greek yogurt, and Sakura talks about her passion for crochet, as well as their latest single, 1-800 Hot N Fun. Fueled by a smooth bass guitar riff, the song follows the band on a night out, kissing strangers, asking the DJ to play Beyoncé, and dancing until morning. “I really like that song,” says Yunjin. “It’s like we’re all just having a chat.” In the chorus, the bandmates repeatedly ask, “Where is Saki?” – their nickname for Sakura – to which someone replies, “She’s waiting in the lobby.” Does that mean Sakura is always the first one ready? “Wow! Wow!” exclaims Yunjin. “That’s actually true! That’s the first time we’ve looked at it that way. That’s brilliant.” There won’t be much time for partying this year, though. Le Sserafim has been talking to the BBC in the midst of a busy day of TV rehearsals, and fans have speculated that they’re working on a new EP – finishing a trilogy of releases named Easy, Crazy, and Hot. The title was hinted at in the lyrics of Good Bones, but Yunjin skillfully avoids giving away any secrets. “Will it even be named Hot? Who knows?” she laughs. “It could be cold, it could be warm. But whatever we release, it will be great.” Based on what we’ve heard so far, there’s no reason to doubt it… as long as Eunchae steers clear of staircases.
