Anne Hathaway and Zendaya join Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project

Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are confirmed to star in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated upcoming film.

Deadline reports that the two actresses will be joining the previously announced cast members Matt Damon and Tom Holland. While details about the project have been kept secret, sources suggest that it will not take place in the present day.

Nolan’s next film, following Oppenheimer, is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026, with an Imax premiere. Production is set to begin in 2025.

This movie will serve as a reunion for Zendaya and Holland, who are partners off-screen as well. The duo is also expected to reprise their roles in the fourth Spider-Man installment, slated to premiere just a week after Nolan’s film.

“I’m incredibly excited,” Holland expressed about being part of Nolan’s upcoming project. “And obviously honored, but that’s all I can say because, to be honest, that’s all I know.” He likened the experience to receiving the call about Spider-Man a decade ago.

Hathaway has previously collaborated with Nolan on Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she shared, “A lot of people wouldn’t cast me because of concerns about my online persona. Christopher Nolan didn’t care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles in one of the best films [Interstellar] I’ve been a part of.”

Recently, Hathaway appeared in the romantic comedy The Idea of You and the period thriller Mothers’ Instinct. Her upcoming projects include the pop-star drama Mother Mary with Michaela Coel and the sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street with Ewan McGregor.

Zendaya was last seen in Luca Guadagnino’s tennis drama Challengers and the fantasy sequel Dune: Part Two. She is currently filming The Drama with Robert Pattinson, directed by Kristoffer Borgli.

Nolan’s previous film, Oppenheimer, was both a commercial and critical success, grossing $976 million worldwide in the summer of 2023 and winning the Oscar for Best Picture.

When asked about replicating this success with his next project, Nolan stated, “I think you can’t dwell too much on the connection between one film and the next. I get bored easily, I like to keep moving forward. It’s thrilling to think about what comes next.”
