Rats on Rafts Reveal Upcoming Album ‘Deep Below’ and Release Fresh Single

Dutch post-punk band Rats on Rafts have announced the upcoming release of their new LP titled Deep Below. The album is set to be released on February 7 through Fire Records, with the first single, ‘Japanese Medicine’, already available for fans to listen to.

Lead singer David Fagan shared his thoughts on the new single, stating, “‘Japanese Medicine’ is directed towards a previous version of myself. That person is no longer here, but sometimes I find myself missing him because life back then seemed full of promise and unpredictability.”

Fagan went on to explain the emotional impact of the song, saying, “When I first heard the vocal demo I had recorded, I was both amazed and deeply saddened. The song had evoked unexpected emotions within me. Upon sharing it with the rest of the band, they all experienced the same intense reaction. This song truly resonated with all of us, as music is ultimately about conveying emotions. ‘Japanese Medicine’ will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

The single is accompanied by a music video created by Dutch filmmaker David Kleijwegt and cinematographer Reiner van Brummelen. Fagan expressed his appreciation for the collaborative process, saying, “Working with David Kleijwegt and Reinier van Brummelen on the video was a unique and enriching experience for us. The entire filming day was meticulously planned and executed by the talented team they had assembled. It was inspiring to witness Reinier and David’s creative process and to be a part of such a focused and dedicated team.”
