Sea Lemon, the musical project of Natalie Lew based in Seattle, has released a new song titled ‘Sweet Anecdote’. This follows her recent collaboration with Ben Gibbard, the lead singer of Death Cab For Cutie, on the track ‘Crystals’. The song can be listened to below.
In a press release, Lew mentioned that “‘Sweet Anecdote’ was the quickest song I’ve ever completed compared to all my previous songs. I worked on it in Andy’s studio, my producer, starting with the guitar and then adding synths, and within about an hour, the song was fully formed. Once I identified the eerie melody of the song, I was inspired to write lyrics about a love that borders on obsession.”
She went on to explain, “The pervasive nature of the internet makes me feel like I know too much about people, and I wanted to explore the darker and more unsettling aspects of this in the song. The narrator truly believes that the person they are fixated on is ‘the one’. I enjoy art forms that evoke a sense of unease, not necessarily outright terror, and ‘Sweet Anecdote’ aims to be a song that unsettles both in its melody and its lyrics, which I am eager to share.”
