In celebration of National Manufacturing Month in October, AAON proudly welcomed over 250 students, educators, and business leaders to showcase the high-tech careers, innovation, and opportunities in the manufacturing industry. These experiences aim to foster connections between businesses, inspire local talent, and address the industry’s skills gap and future workforce challenges.
By 2030, manufacturers will need to fill over 4 million jobs, but more than half of those positions may remain unfilled due to a skills gap and misperceptions about modern manufacturing (Research: Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte).
At AAON’s Tulsa, Oklahoma location, students and educators from local schools toured the facilities to learn about the company’s products, manufacturing processes, safety measures, and sustainability efforts. The tours included visits to the Norman Asbjornson Innovation Center (NAIC) research lab and the Exploration Center, a sustainable building.
In Longview, Texas, business leaders toured AAON’s facilities as part of the Longview Economic Development Corporation’s Company Leader Big Techs Tour series, highlighting manufacturing processes and career opportunities.
Stephanie Regan, AAON Director of Corporate Citizenship & Communications, emphasized the importance of Manufacturing Month in showcasing the diverse opportunities within the industry and recognizing the local talent.
Manufacturing Month also celebrates the hard work of AAON team members across all locations, with team appreciation events held to foster unity and pride within the organization.
Larry Honel, AAON Executive Director of Global Operations, expressed gratitude to the team members for their dedication and teamwork, which drives the company’s growth and success.
MFG Day, initiated in 2012 by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International, is now organized by the Manufacturing Institute to address skills gaps, connect with future generations, and promote the manufacturing industry’s prosperity.
