Bread Bin Bakery, located on New Street near the town centre, recently announced its immediate closure.
Founder Lisa Bindahnee revealed on social media that the bakery’s staff arrived one morning to find the locks changed, preventing them from entering the premises.
She explained that the building had been sold to Artemis Europe Limited, leading to a parking dispute with the landlord.
Unable to access the bakery due to the changed locks, staff were unable to continue operations, prompting Ms. Bindahnee to make the decision to shut down the business.
She expressed, “I am physically and mentally exhausted and do not have the energy to spend more money searching for new premises and dealing with legal battles.”
Ms. Bindahnee disclosed that she had self-funded the business without any borrowing or debt after leaving her career as a lawyer, emphasizing that the business was not experiencing “any financial problems”.
She also thanked her staff, stating, “We have achieved so much in a short period of time and have overcome numerous challenges.”
Ms. Bindahnee expressed gratitude to the customers, saying, “Getting to know our customers personally has been the most rewarding part of this job.”
“I understand many of you may want us to continue the business in a different form or location, but I have determined that it would be too difficult and costly to do so.”
Following the closure, social media posts showed a team packing up equipment in the building, while Ms. Bindahnee began trialing home deliveries of select baked goods “to explore its feasibility”.
