Former Republican governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced his support for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.
In a lengthy statement on X, Schwarzenegger, 77, expressed his endorsement for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz, despite his usual aversion to endorsements and politics.
I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians.
I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor.
My time as Governor taught me to…

“I will always be an American before I am a Republican,” he wrote. “That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don’t recognise our country. And you are right to be furious.”
Schwarzenegger criticized the lack of action by politicians on issues like the national debt and immigration reform, highlighting the failure to prioritize public service over political gain.
He expressed his frustration with politicians who prioritize their own interests over the well-being of Americans, pointing out the lack of meaningful policy changes and the divisive rhetoric used during campaigns.
Regarding the Capitol attack on January 6, Schwarzenegger condemned then-President Trump’s role in inciting violence and described him as a failed leader.
He emphasized the importance of accepting election results and moving forward as a nation, urging Americans to reject divisive politics and work towards unity.
Despite his disagreements with certain aspects of Harris and Walz’s platform, Schwarzenegger believes that they offer the best chance for progress and unity in the country.
