How Can Trump and Harris Be in a Statistical Dead Heat?

I have been pondering over this question ever since the Democratic National Convention.

Like many others, I didn’t know much about Kamala Harris when she became Vice President. However, after seeing her speak and debate Trump, I am now very enthusiastic about supporting her presidential campaign.

She is intelligent, well-informed, experienced, and dedicated to upholding the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law. She exudes thoughtfulness and composure, and comes across as a kind and considerate individual. With a successful track record that includes being elected as District Attorney of San Francisco, Attorney General of California, U.S. Senator from California, and Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris is undoubtedly well-prepared for the presidency.

Her opponent, on the other hand, is a mix of narcissism and hatred. He favors white men, acts tough, and views women as mere objects of desire. His disrespectful behavior towards women is evident, and his language used to mock and insult others is appalling.

He exhibits traits of racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and Christian nationalism (despite not practicing Christianity). He has a history of being a sexual predator, failing to pay debts, and filing for bankruptcy multiple times.

His ignorance is glaring, with reports suggesting that he has never even read the Constitution. Driven by his inflated ego, he craves constant praise and labels himself as the best and greatest, despite evidence to the contrary.

He has a criminal record, having been convicted on multiple counts of business fraud in New York. Additionally, a jury found him guilty of defaming E. Jean Carroll, an accusation that resulted in a hefty penalty. Further legal battles await him.

Following his defeat in the 2020 election, he refused to accept the results and actively sought to overturn them through various means. His actions on January 6, 2021, when he incited a mob to storm the U.S. Capitol, marked a dark moment in our history. The mob’s violent behavior resulted in casualties and widespread damage, all in an attempt to subvert the democratic process.

Despite these glaring differences between the two candidates, the question remains: why is this election so close?
