Grace Shaw, an Australian musician known by her stage name Mallrat, has recently dropped a new single titled ‘Hocus Pocus’. The song, which comes after the release of ‘Ray of Light’ in August, was produced by Styalz Fuego (who has worked with artists like Troye Sivan and Tate McRae) and Kito (known for collaborations with Skrillex and FLETCHER). Take a listen to it below.
In a statement, Shaw shared, “I fell over and broke my arm while dancing to this demo on my way home. Despite the accident, I couldn’t contain my excitement! I ended up having to wear a cast and sling. When I was writing the pre-chorus section of this song, I wanted to highlight the sharp inhales as lyrics that deserved their own spotlight, almost like a punchline. In most pop music, breaths are usually edited out and kept low, but in this case, they felt significant to me.”
