Good Looks have recently released two new songs, ‘Damage Control’ and ‘Chase Your Demons Out’. These tracks are part of a double A-side single that follows the band’s second album, Lived Here for a While, which was released in June. You can listen to the songs below.
In a statement, Tyler Jordan shared his inspiration behind ‘Damage Control’, revealing that he wrote the song in two parts – the first during a difficult period in a relationship, and the second after the breakup. He mentioned that the influence of Big Star can be heard in the chord progression of the song. Despite not being the most graceful breakup song, ‘Damage Control’ captures a specific feeling and moment in time.
On the other hand, ‘Chase Your Demons Out’ was written around the time of Good Looks’ 2022 album, Bummer Year. The song reflects on how the band members were older than many of their indie rock counterparts when they released their debut album. According to Jordan, this gave them an advantage in being more prepared for the challenges that lay ahead. ‘Chase Your Demons Out’ is about the anticipation of the future and the feeling of readiness after years of hard work.
