Ezra Furman and Alex Walton have collaborated on a new single titled ‘Tie Me to the Train Tracks’, which is now available through Bella Union along with a B-side called ‘Beat Me Up’, featuring vocals by Walton. Check it out below.
“We created this song in a burst of intense passion at her former residence in Roxbury, Boston one particularly sick afternoon,” Furman stated. “The chains of love had ensnared us in their mortal grip and it all just came pouring out. And there’s a B-side (‘Beat Me Up’) as well, born out of a small masochistic fragment I had conceived, which she then transformed into a brilliant full song, played and recorded entirely by her, that hits hard and leaves a mark. I don’t know how she does it, but I feel fortunate to create with her.”
Alex Walton chimed in: “It was a privilege and an honor to not only collaborate with Ezra, but to have her in my home, writing and recording together, going out to the porch with cigarettes and notebooks in hand, attempting to make sense of everything. We aimed to produce something raw, noisy, harsh, yet still delicate, beautiful, fragile. I believe we accomplished that.”
