The movie, as described by Deadline, chronicles the true story of Christy Martin, a remarkable figure who became America’s most successful female boxer during the 1990s. With her natural fighting abilities, Christy’s life took a significant turn in 1989 when she crossed paths with her manager and eventual husband, Jim Martin. She broke barriers by becoming the first woman to sign with the renowned promoter Don King and the sole female boxer to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. Despite her charm, beauty, and resilience in the ring, Christy faced personal struggles, toxic relationships, and even survived an attempted assassination, showcasing that a fighter’s greatest victories are not always within the boxing arena.
