Actress and director Olivia Wilde has been chosen to star in the psychological erotic thriller Monkey Hill, directed by Sarah Adina Smith. The film is based on Paul Theroux’s story of the same name. Wilde will portray an heiress alongside actor Gael García Bernal, who will play her husband. The story follows the couple as they hide away at a luxury resort in an Indian holy city after being accused of a white-collar crime. Despite the scandal looming over them, they distract themselves with sexual escapades and spiritual experiences. However, the hotel staff who cater to their needs by the pool return each night to a village struggling with civil unrest and a severe water crisis. As the couple ventures beyond the hotel’s protective gates, they unknowingly set off a chain of events that will alter their fate.
