The question of who the next US leader might be was a concern for European officials, particularly in light of the possibility of Donald Trump winning the US election. Trump has hinted at being less supportive of Ukraine than Biden, which could impact US aid to NATO allies. Trump has also claimed to be the “best friend that Israel has ever had.” Given that the United States is the largest military supporter of Ukraine, much is at stake. The current focus for the UK, US, German, and French leaders is to continue showing unity for Ukraine and to push for a ceasefire in the Middle East, although circumstances could change in the coming weeks.
