As per a recent real estate survey in Kolkata, women are the leading home seekers to buy properties for end-use. It highlighted that around 77% women home seekers are looking to buy property for end-use whereas only 23% plan to buy homes as investments.
In contrary, only 62% men are looking to buy property for end-use and 38% for investment purpose.Women are coming up as a major contributor in India’s residential real estate sector.
Industry experts at Dharitri Infraventure Pvt Ltd reached at a conclusion that the growing dominance of women homebuyers is constant over the last few years, especially in the urban centres. India’s Real Estate Market has emerged as one of the preferred destinations for homebuyers for affordable and luxurious residential options.
Trends show that 47% of women seeking property belonged to the age group of 25-35 years. Majority of these home seekers don’t prefer luxurious properties or above 1.5 crore. Distance from workplace is the top priority for both men and women before shortlisting any property.
As per property consultants at Dharitri Infraventure Pvt Ltd, Kolkata has witnessed a tremendous rise in the demand of affordable housing. The city is all set to benefit from the recent government policies such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and easy house loan schemes have attracted women to look for end-use residential properties.
Women across urban areas are buying properties to diversify their investment. They are more brand conscious when it comes to buying properties than men, hence it is quite challenging for builders to persuade them with new schemes.
Most of the housing units in the city are priced around Rs 40 Lakh. Over 1,19,000 units were launched in Kolkata between 2013-2018, out of which more than 50% residential properties are a part of the budget-friendly projects as special offers on easy finance options, down payment scheme are offered to attract buyers.
